    Questions

    1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: What material is this made of? Would this be alright to use on aluminum wheels?

    2 Answers
    • A: This wire wheel brush is made with carbon steel wire that has a brass coating. I assume the question is can this wire wheel bush be used to clean aluminum car wheels. The answer is no. Aluminum is very soft and the aggressive nature of the stiff wire bristles in the brush will scratch and damage the finish of an aluminum wheel. These wire wheel brushes should only be used on hard metals like removing rust / paint from steel.

Q: Why would I choose the fine brush versus coarse? The description does not mention reasons for selecting the coarse vs. the fine and obviously there must be some difference in behaviour and task suitability if they make both types of brush.

    1 Answer
    • A: Thank you for your inquiry. The difference between Coarse and Fine is the gauge or thickness of the wire bristles. In coarse they are thicker and more aggressive. It also depends on the task they are performing and the material they are working on. For example: Removing rust or paint from steel or angle iron, a coarse brush is more suitable. If they are doing the same with softer metals like aluminum, a fine brush is more preferable. Fine brush bristles are also more flexible so would perform better if you are trying to remove rust or paint from a crack or crevice. Hope this helps.
