This backup sump by Mastercraft can be useful during primary pump failure or instances of flooding, and is equipped with a water level alarm to signal primary pump malfunctioning. Includes battery box, DC pump, float switch, mounting bracket, and check valve, along with a 1-year warranty.

Not robust and repairable enough to trust with your basement.

The first unit I purchased had the be replaced, because the pump failed with a short circuit. Because these are not sold as separate parts, I had to take everything apart for the store to process a warranty return, and presumably this also means that the battery box will have been thrown out. Something like this needs to be very robust and also have replacement parts available.

Did not work

Installed and did not work, only option was replacement no money back. Tried a second one, did not work either, so now I am stuck with a credit I do not want.

Q: What's maximum head before zero flow of this pump? That would be more useful to mention then the dimensions of the box it comes in.

A: This Canadian Tire pump appears to be a re-branded Superior pump (made in Minneapolis). The model number, general specifications and image all look the same. The pump performance is as follows (values in US gallons per minute): 0' - 23, 5' - 22, 10' - 18, 15' - 13, 20' - 8 Based on that I would estimate the maximum head (zero flow) would be approx. 28'
