Fence is warped and unusable

I’m pretty disappointed with this Mastercraft router and table. The fence isn’t square. I tried adjusting it multiple times and even shimming it, but the issue is the plastic fence itself. It’s not straight, so there’s no way to true it up properly. On top of that, the centre insert sits about 1/16″ lower than the table surface. Because of that, the workpiece catches and jams as you feed it through. Another reviewer mentioned the same issue, and they’re right. At this point I’m not even using the fence. I’ve had to switch to my own straight edge and clamps just to make it usable. This feels very cheaply made, and I would not recommend it.

Useless

You get what you pay for and I should have known better. Shame on me. The center insert that the router mounts to is flimsy plastic and it is sitting almost 1/6 inch low in the middle with respect to the ends of the table, obviously being pulled down by the weight of the router. It has levellers but then it’s too high and you can’t slide wood across it without it getting caught up. Most inserts are either metal or phenolic but for some reason they used plastic on this, obviously to make it cheap. But that also makes it bow down. If you want any level of precision this router table is effectively useless. Get something that isn’t plastic/MDF. I will be returning it.

A: Here are the dimensions of the plate: 304mm (11.97” )x 203mm (8”). Note that the dimensions of the plate will not affect the operation. Please refer to pages 28 to 29 of the manual for router compatibility of other non-Mastercraft models.

A: The router mounting plate is not aluminum. It is a high-strength plastic plate in the top of MDF tabletop. The router is mounted under the plate.
