The Mastercraft Voltage Detector/Tester has a non-contact AC voltage detector with a flashing LED and a buzzer to confirm the presence of an active current. The voltage tester can detect electric current between 70-1000V AC, as well as signals between 50-500Hz in frequency. This Mastercraft voltage tester is safety-rated to a CAT III standard, which allows it to perform continuous measuring in order to detect live wires and breakpoints in addition to detecting voltage.

Q: Would this voltage tester work for checking to see if a hard wired smoke detector has been properly turned off prior to replacing?
5 months agoA: This non-contact AC voltage detector can confirm the presence of an active current. It can also detect electric current between 70-1000V AC. It is advisable to turn off the power at the breaker box prior to replacing the smoke detector.
