Effectively manage water in basements and sump pits with this Mastercraft Submersible Electric Pump. Designed for permanent installations, this submersible pump is ideal for homes with basements that require a quieter pump. Built-in thermal overload protection prevents the motor from overheating, while the piggyback tethered float switch allows for automatic operation or manual bypass. This pump has a reinforced thermoplastic impeller which resists clogs.

Plenty of capacity, but not very quiet.

While there are not many other reviews indicating that this little pump is noisy, that is my only complaint. It is a lot noisier than my previous pump which needed replacing after 20 years of service. Perhaps pump quality has declined in the intervening years. I first replaced it with a 1/3 hp that I found to be too noisy so I purchased this 1/4 hp thinking it would be quieter than the 1/3 hp. Regrettably, there is very little difference. There is no problem with the pump capacity as it only takes 24 seconds to take the sump level down to shutoff.

A: 062-3579 is sump pump with tethered switch mounted, the pump has to leave water about 150mm, so it cannot suck up to zero.

A: Yes, there's a float on cord. When the float rises high enough, it turns the pump on. I bought it to drain my pool at the end of the summer, so I don't use that feature. There would have to be a lot of water to raise the float.

Q: Is there a way to make the float kick in at a lower level... like maybe 2 inches instead of the 12-14 when its attached?

A: I would say yes, providing it just plain water going through. If there are solids in before the intake. the water, you had better invest in a septic type of pump or put a filtration

Q: How to get the float to come on/off by iteself for sump pump item 62-3579-8 sump pump; live in country so after initial clearing of storm water on sunday, water just trickles in. Sump hole filling every 30-60 minutes gradually so float doesn't trigger. what can i do to make this item function properly.

A: you must have a defective float switch as i have the same pump and have never had this problem. Exchange it.
