    Poor reliability, Short Warranty

Bought this a year ago and has already failed just as warranty expires. Frustrated that I can't find the bill either to reconfirm. I knew early on this pump would let me down as it made odd noises early within few few months. Previous Mastercraft version (build by Burmar) lasted 10 years before failing and had a 5 year warranty. So now I'm faced with paying for another one of these to plug-and-play and get things back to work...but now I'm all in to getting this pump out of there asap and install gravity fed drain. Steer clear of this product. Substandard.

Lasts about 3 years before water starts making it way through the seals and shorts out the moto. Okay purchase. But not impressed

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Laundry tub pump

The first one I bought stopped working in 10 months. The replacement didn’t last 6 months. I called in a plumber because we are seniors and it’s extremely difficult for us to install. He told us he never used something like this. He tried to get it working. Gave up and told us it was garbage.

    Questions

    1 - 7 of 7 Questions

Q: Where am I to drill the 1/8" hole in the sump as the manual directs me to? The manual says it's shown, however none of the diagrams for the installation steps actually shows where the hole is to be drilled. Has anyone installed this without drilling it?

    • A: Exactly my experience too - this must be a mistake in the instructions. I saw it, and certainly did not drill any holes. it's been running fine for a few days now.

Q: The switch on this unit does not turn the pump on until the water level in the sink is anywhere between 0.5 - 3 inches. Is this normal? Other than that it works as expected.

    • A: Thanks Greg. I installed it as per the instructions. The pump is over 6" under the drain, the ball valve is right above the elbow, and the check valve is right over the ball valve. The check valve is as low as I could make it. It is definitely lower than the bottom of the sink.

    • A: LA POMPE EST AUTOMATIQUE. VOUS DEVEZ BRANCHER LES 2 FILS L'UN SUR L'AUTRE CAR LE DIAPHRAME LAISSE PASSER LE COURANT POUR LA POMPE. SI VOUS BRANCHÉ CHAQUE FIL SUR UNE PRISE DE COURANT SÉPARÉE, LA POMPE FONCTIONNERA EN CONTINU. N'OUBLIEZ PAS DE METTRE LE CLAPET SOUS LE NIVEAU DE LA CUVE DE LAVAGE. BONNE INSTALLATION!

Q: I have had the pump, working well, for the past two years. Now the pump will not stop even though the water has been removed from the laundry tub. Nothing in the manual speaks to the pump not shutting off. Any ideas ?

    • A: I have the same problem.. I have to unplug it after ever use and plug it back when in use. I had an old one which was doing the same thing, so I got this new one and it's less than a year old and it started again. Sorry ...

Q: The installation instructions ask for a 1 1/4" inch PVC pipe from the Check valve to your pipe outlet (number 9. on page 13). Can a 1 1/2" ABS pipe be used instead?

    1 Answer
    • A: I believe it’s a 1 1/4” check valve so you would need a 1 1/2” x 1 1/4” reducer to adapt to 1 1/2” pipe

Q: The pump installation manual refers to all plumbing parts to be "PVC" but this is not the normal for Ontario, using "ABS" is. Can I use ABS glue on the unidentified foot valve and other slip joints? The CT website pairs ABS glue and parts on their website

    1 Answer
    • A: Hi Bobbie, Thank you for your question! We suggest to use All-purpose glue.

Q: Another question: With the utility sink/laundry tub I am installing this on, in order to achieve the 5" clearance suggested, I cannot locate the check valve completely below the level of the sink. Any suggestions to correct this?

    1 Answer
    • A: There's a 5" minimum clearance specified in the manual, we suggest that you further lower the pump to make the clearance more than 5". Another way is to install elbows on horizontal pipe to lower the pipe as the attached picture shows
