In early 2009 I purchased a set for a new trailer. I liked the fact that they sprung back and had a plastic coating on the cable. They were also less expensive than a standard safety chain set. It was at the end of February 2012 that prior to a trip with the trailer that I noticed the corrosion and fraying of the cable had reached the point that the connection simply came apart with a crunch and hardly any effort. Looking online, I found that they come with a limited lifetime warranty from Master Lock, so I replaced them with the same style and would deal with the warranty later. After one trip with the new cables, I have already noticed substantial corrosion happening under the plastic coating. Today I called the United States customer service and they quickly said they would send a replacement. After they realized I was calling from Canada I was redirected to the proper number. The Canadian representative said she wasn't sure if it would be covered under the limited LIFETIME warranty and that it was the first time to hear of such a problem. I offered up to send pictures (which I have attached to this review) At the moment, I am waiting to hear back from them. Considering that they are meant to be trailer safety chain, I really can't recommend them, even if I end up having good customer service from them in the end.

Q: Can you loop the hook end through the other end to attach to the trailer?

A: No, the hooks are too large. And in addition I am not sure it would meet the regulations for having them attached securely to the trailer. Finally it would reduce the working length of the cables and result in restriction to the trailers turning radius.
