    Pickle pipes are not great

    Not great for lactofermentation(was esp bad for sauerkraut), choose weck jars or springtop jars instead. When there are big temperature fluctuations, a vacuum effect occurs and the silicone tops can cave in. Silicone is also more prone to accumulating mold/bacteria than glass, so its not ideal overall. Silicone nipples let C02 escape but also let air back in, so the ferment has to be completely submerged.

    • A: They come in two sizes which are marked on the box - either the standard (small) canning jar lid size or the wide mouth lid size.
