    Nice unit with good features

This came with a 12' jon boat I purchased but I wound up mounting it in a 14' V-bottom boat that replaced the jon boat. I had the original packaging, mounting instructions and all the parts but no owners manual. Not a big deal, it's fairly easy to figure out and use. I downloaded the manual from the Lowrance website for future reference. I left it set to auto for the first time out. It measured the depth pretty good until I got the 9.9 hp outboard opened up and it quit reading the depth but it did register as deep as 865. In the shallows it worked very well. The fish displayed as actual fish shapes, not inverted "V's" like many other units. It captured the underwater trees and other obstacles clearly. I really like the display of water temp and voltage coming off the battery as well. Gives piece of mind knowing what charge is left and it doesn't use a lot of power over a 5 hour fishing trip.My wife likes it as it's easy to read, even in bright sunlight.

Purchased it one year ago. Used it four times and the last time I used it is when the thing started to act up. During normal operation, all of a sudden the depth starts to increase until it gets to 2200 feet and the screen goes to black and white images. Turn it off and on again and the unit works ok for a while and then starts all over again. Has anyone had the similar problem? Tell me what you did about it. Thanks.

I bought this new more than a year ago. I have not had a single issue with my Elite-3X. I waited for awhile to post a review because you never know how good a product really is until you have ran it for awhile.

Old guy here who cut his teeth on a flasher, then paper machines up to and including the Lowrance X-15, on of the best ever made. So far this little guy does everything and more that I need for lake and flats fishing in FLA. Clear separation of targets, no doubt about fish versus weeds/structure, clearly distinguished hard or soft bottom. Alpha-numerical on screen temp, depth and voltage readings definitely a plus.

I've had this unit on my boat for two seasons. Like a few others have mentioned it doesn't read correctly. It will read depths over 600' on a lake that's 30' deep. The depth readings are not accurate at most speeds and will occasionally 'lock up' and not read anything. I bought it because it fit my budget at the time, but the one this replaced was much better and it was a lower end model as well. Overall I'm disappointed with the quality of reading from this product. I guess you get what you pay for.

Q: Is the 12-Volt 10AH SLA Battery compatible Lowrance Elite 3x Fishfinder? (to use in Kayak) This is the battery I am referring to, http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/12-volt-10ah-sla-battery-0102049p.html

    1 Answer
    • A: Your fish finder will operate with any 12V battery. It’s really a question of how much power (runtime) you want. Higher capacity = longer runtime between recharges. A small, SLA battery like this one is ideal because it is sealed (safety) safety and portability. Most people will use a battery in the 7Ah range so this 10Ah battery will provide even longer runtime between recharges.
