JJ Cole Luma 4-Way Packable Baby Carrier

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's lightweight yes, it folds up into a pouch, it's compact and easy to carry but it has a design flaw and I honestly feel like it's a choking hazard. So, I was so excited to bring this with me on my trip. I have a toddler and 6 month old so I felt this would be so convenient to use at the airport, boy was I wrong! I followed the instructions to a T I had baby facing me and couldn't figure out why he was fussing so much until I realized it was cutting into the back of his neck, it was so much that it was bright red and left a mark. After getting through security I figured maybe it was user error so I made some adjustments but still no relief. I ended up having to carry him because he was so uncomfortable. On my way home from my trip I decided I would try it with him facing outwards. This was even worse. He was awake the whole time but like the girl in the picture on the front of the box, the fabric comes up so high it cuts into the front of his neck again leaving bright red marks and I heard him choke once. That was enough for me to stop using it again. I tried rolling it up from the bottom, adjusting the straps, adjusting him and nothing worked. It is easy to use and wash and ball up and throw in the diaper bag but the safety of my baby I felt was in jeopardy while wearing it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This would be great for larger/older babies but I didn’t feel very secure or confident when using this with my 2.5 month old. She weighs about 12 lbs and I just didn’t feel like this carrier was very secure like our other hybrid wrap was. If she was a little bigger I think it would work fine but not for us right now. I was hopeful this would be a lighter alternative to our other wrap!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Loving my JJ Cole Luma 4 position carrier. I've been using it almost daily for a few weeks, wearing my grandson mainly forward facing. At 5 months, 15# and wriggly squirmy, I feel safer wearing him rather than having him in his bulky stroller, and this carrier has eased my mind with it's strength and durability. The straps don't dig into my shoulders or slide even after wearing him for hours. I'm 5'5" 140# short waisted and barrel chested due to scoliosis and the easily adjustable straps don't cause any fatigue or pinched spots on my back or waist, something that even a backpack will hit me wrong. We went to the zoo for Mother's Day and I was able to walk and wear him for the better part of the day other than a snooze in his stroller and I honestly didn't "feel" the weight of him pulling on my shoulders or back, super super comfortable after adjustment. Also neither one of us got sweaty or felt hot from the soft breathable fabric, so much better than the other nylon carrier we had! And this fabric also doesnt cause any marks on his legs or make his feet turn colors from dangling, I can tell he's comfortable from his happy little giggles and also the way he is supported with comfort to me. I haven't had any problem getting him in or out of the carrier, he slides in and out easily with help from my daughter now that he's getting heavier. Since he's teething with constant drool, I've tossed the carrier in the washer and dryer numerous times and it still looks and performs as new. And I really like how it easily folds into it's own little pocket(that is also handy to hold a couple little things while we're out), much better than having ugly straps getting tangled in his bag or my purse. Very pleased with the performance and durability of this carrier and am looking forward to wearing him for many more months with confidence.
