Thanks for sharing your feedback on our JBL Charge 6. Our portable speakers can only connect to one another if they share the same pairing feature. The JBL Charge 6 and JBL Charge 5 use different features, which is why they aren't able to pair together. If you would like to connect the JBL Charge 6 to another JBL speaker, consider checking out the JBL Xtreme 4, as it features the same Auracast compatibility.

Similar to Bluetooth, this connection offers a reliable range of up to 10 meters (approximately 30 feet) when there is a clear line of sight between the source device and the speakers. Please note that there should be no interference like walls, other objects, and other wireless devices.

The USB port is for charging devices, such as a phone, or for lossless audio playback, which allows you to plug in your laptop or other audio device. However, in order for it to work, you need a compatible lossless audio source.
