    Returned!

I had one many years ago and worked great, but eventually died. Thought I would try again. Of note is that it doesn't come ready to rumble out of the package. You need to supply the butane. Fortunately, I had some. Once loaded, click, click, click. No flame. Maybe once in 10 tries. I've had $2 Bics more reliable than this $25 tool. Returned.

    Iroda butane torch

Add stated it had an internal reservoir. Not the case. No reservoir. Just a refillable lighter.

    Worked until it didn't

I've had my microjet torch for a few years and it was reliable. Handier than a large butane torch but with the obvious draw back of having a smaller and weaker flame. But for purposes like camp fires or burnishing rope it was a handy tool box toy. And then one day it just stopped working. No warning, no temperamental behaviour. One day it worked, and then it didn't. Compared to things like my BBQ lighters, it lasted way less time and far less use. For equal money you can get full force butane torches or ones that have a small battery which provide a much more reliable starter. The piezo starter in this is simply not robust enough for the cost.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Terrible waste of money!!!

Do not buy !!!! Waste of money!! Should be criminal to charge someone money for something that never works. I’m on my second can of butane and have only got it to light a couple of times. Waste of money!! They told me at Canadian tire this was a good lighter when I asked what they recommend for a butane.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 10 of 13 Questions

Q: Can this be used for kitchen purposes like creme brulee ?

    3 Answers
    • A: Absolutely not. That was the exact reason I got this. Stick with an actual torch. It took forever to try and melt the sugar, and once it did, it turned the custard into soup. I wouldn't even recommend it for bananas foster since you have to get very close to the item you want the flame to touch. I really hope you did not buy it for this purpose already!

    • A: To be honest? Cut your losses and throw it out. I bought mine and it never worked from day one. I also lost my receipt. They're junk. I personally don't shop at Canadian Tire anymore. I've had too many issues with them over my life.

Q: I'm looking for a torch to take camping, as a more powerful substitute for a lighter. I need to be able to check it in to luggage when I fly. Can I do this with any of the Irodas?

    1 Answer
    • A: Bringing lighters or torches in checked luggage is subject to the policies of each airline. Please consult your commonly used airlines restricted and prohibited items list to verify if the Iroda torch can be checked in the luggage.

Q: Could i use this to solder a copper pipe under the sink?

    1 Answer
    • A: No, unless the pipe is very small because the VOLUME of the flame will probably not be enough to make a proper joint. I would advise PT-200 Product #058-7503-6. As a reminder, the torch comes empty so Butane will need to be purchased.
