Wonderful for Cabin cruiser.

My cabin cruiser did not have much room on the dash. The helix 5 is perfect. It is installed easily and does a great job. The nav is on point.

Very easy to install, set up is simple, depth readings are accurate, sonar picture is clear, easy to read, mapping is very accurate and easy to use.

Got water inside and almost caught on fire

This worked for a month or so. Then more and more water started accumulating inside and eventually it stopped working completely. The power cord on the back turned black and almost caught on fire (luckily, the fuse blew first). Very disappointed with this piece of junk!

Less than a year old and stopped working. Chart stopped working and now it won’t power up. Cheap price equals cheap product.

Over the years I have half a dozen or more Humminbirds was very happy with them, had great service out of them.
The Helix5 Chirp G2 is garbage! The first time out it died. The dealer where I bought my boat sent it off, was with out it for a while. I have only had the boat in the water six times it died three of the six times. It has 13volts going to but will not power up. The last two times it would power back up after a little while. When it does work it is a great unit.
Sad because I have used Humminbird for over 40 years.
I would not recommend this Helix5 to anyone. Junk.

A: Settings, go into alarms. There is a spot in there to set that. There is also a setting for alarm sensitivity as well

A: Thank you for you question. The built in base map is very basic. It will work in the ocean but it is not detailed. If you need a detailed card, we would recommend a Navionics chart for your region.

Q: My unit is saying the transducer is not connected, it’s worked fine since purchased new 3 ago. Is there any specific reason this might be happening? (Besides the obvious, yes it’s plugged in correectly) And also does the store carry just the transducers?

A: With the unit showing the message "Transducer not Connected" and there is a physical transducer connected, the problem could be in the head unit or the transducer. We do suggest to check the transducer cable for nicks/cuts and damage and try your transducer on another unit if possible. This would tell if the issue is the head unit or the transducer.
