Heavy-Duty, Higher Load Rating [in LBS] and Looks nicer than Zinc-plated

Very solid Lag Eye Screw Bolt. These indoor/outdoor Black-coated bolted are actually thicker than the standard Zinc-plated or Stainless Steel versions of the same size, so, very interestingly, they are rated for a heavier load. For example, I purchased the Black-coated Exterior version of the 5/16" x 4" Lag Screw Eye and it's S.W.L. [Safe Working Load] is rated at 100-lbs. Contrast that to the Zinc-plated & Stainless Steel versions, which are only rated for 81-lbs [or ~ 20% lower]. In addition, I do not like to look of Zinc-plated screws & bolts, so I generally go with Stainless Steel, however, SS is much more expensive. So another advantage of this Black-coated Lag Screw Eye is that it is less expensive than the SS version. So it's a Win-Win; higher load rating in LBS & less expensive [30% cheaper]. And, honestly, the Black coating, although unnecessary for indoor applications, looks nicer than the Zinc-plated version, IMHO.

Hillman illegal and misleading size of eye bolts

Bought 8 of these 1/4×3-3/4 hillman eye screws. They are only1/8" thick!! Supposed to hold 50lb. The light i put up weighs 40lb. Used 4 eye bolts on each corner of the light and 2 eye bolts on the ceiling. The 2 eye bolts on the ceiling have opened up considerably forcing me to upgrade to 3/8×4-1/2". I hope someone from Hillman or can tire contacts me about this illegally marked and misleading packaging. Very disappointed!!
