Bought this after researching. I was prepared to pay more for a fish finder to upgrade the one on my boat but after reading reviews I thought I'd give this one a shot. I have yet to use this on my boat but I did mount it to a bucket for ice fishing. To say I am thrilled is an understatement. The flasher feature worked well, however I found the split frequency screen to be the best. I could see my sinker and minnow as two lines and watch the fish coming up to get them. The screen resolution is what it is on a budget unit but the accuracy and sensitivity are much better than I expected.
I am looking forward to trying the other features this year. Well done Garmin!

I've had fish finders for years and this was my first colour model. What can I say, very nice Garmin. Sure there are other units with side scan, and way more features but unless you want to spend and arm and a leg then a model like this one fits the bill. Very clear sonar images. GPS tracking built in and the map creator feature which I have yet to play with more. Set it up in the boat or use it for ice fishing in winter. So far so good. Met and exceeded my expectations. Maintains data well even when driving at higher speeds. I plan to keep this in the boat during the regular season and move it onward to the ice hut in the hard water season. It can be portable if you know how to set it up that way. No depth charts to load into it but it creates its own as you use it. Also no ability to connect to a smart phone but hey why have your smart phone out to drop it overboard. This is the safer unit to use. I like it. One month of use so far....

A: Hi Mark, This unit comes with a transom mount and trolling motor mount for the transducer. Garmin does not offer any alternative mounting options for this transducer. We cannot comment on third party solutions that may exist.
