The Gardena MaxControl water timer can handle your yard's watering needs with automatic ease. The 6 cycles per day allow you to set watering times from 1 minute up to 9 hours and 50 minutes, helping your sprinklers, drip irrigation and pop up systems run efficiently. The simple programming and removable programming unit make it a breeze to set up. Once programmed, the timer switches watering accessories on and off automatically so you don't have to think about it. With the addition of the Gardena Water Distributor (sold separately), the timer can control up to 6 irrigation accessories simultaneously.

Works very well but button is hard to turn

I love Gardena garden tools & equipment. Good quality, well made, intuitive design, comfortable to use..m especially if you have arthritis. The only flaw with this water timer is that the main button is hard to turn. Rather than exchanging the unit at Canadian Tire, I tried calling Gardena Canada who never answers the phone or returns calls. If I continue having trouble reaching them, I may take it back to Cdn Tire for exchange.

A: Yes it can. It has automatic 2nd and 3rd day selections, or you can manually pick which days you want to run it. It's fully customizable.

Q: Can it be programmed to run on certain days of the week i.e. Only on Thursday and Sunday? Not every 2nd or 3rd day. With water restrictions it's certain days, not after a certain number of days that we can water so we need to be able to programmed for specific days of the week.

Q: When the battery looses power does the valve "fail open" for "fail closed" ? if the valve was open at the time of the power loss, would the valve close automatically or stay open? same scenario with being closed. Thanks

A: When the battery loses power, the valve will close, also it will not open if the battery is running too low.

Q: How can I run more than one hose off this. I have 4 separate zones and hoses.

A: If you want different zones/areas (not just one hose line to go on/off) to be watered, the only way is to attach our GARDENA water computer to our two zone distributor(our article 8193) and manually turn each water line(hose line)on and off or, alternatively, use our water computer in conjunction with our six zone distributor, it will then automatically switch zones, (GARDENA Automatic water zone distributor article 1197).

A: Yes, our GARDENA water computer can be set to automatically have the water come on and off, even up to six times per day! However, if the consumer wants different zones/areas (not just one hose line to go on/off) to be watered, the only way is to attach our GARDENA water computer to our two zone distributor(our article 8193) and manually turn each water line(hose line)on and off or, alternatively, use our water computer in conjunction with our six zone distributor(please see my photo attached), it will then automatically switch zones, (GARDENA Automatic water zone distributor article 1197).

A: Yes, only a 9V alkaline manganese battery (alkaline) type IEC 6LR61 must be used.
