Better choice than basic filter

For me this filter was the better deal even though I paid slightly more. I can go a full year with this filter instead of changing it twice a year or every 10,000kms. My oil has never stayed cleaner for that time.

une compagnie de Confiance Fram, 4 véhicules et toutes ont des filtre fram jamais eu de probleme un peux plus cher mais cela vaut la peine, pour quelques sous de plus tranquilité d'esprist assuré

I don't know why people give bad comments about Fram but its built like it was in the 70's with great quality materials, and the "Sure Grip" really helps to get a good grip on the oil filter. :)

This filter is a regular Fram Extra Guard filter with a plastic cartridge suspended inside the inner tube filled with some sort of goo. It is supposed to help those high mileage engines. The goo cartridge is on the clean side of the filter and is blocking the filter outlet. The oil can get around the cartridge, but it has to pass between it and the core tube which is a small gap. I don't know how long it takes for the goo to dissolve and I'd be concerned that it could exit the filter in a big glob. That could cause all kind of problems if an oil passage became blocked by this stuff. Even after the goo dissolves, the plastic cartridge will continue to block the oil flow exiting the filter.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Gel additives will be released over the duration of the oil change to help protect the seals and gaskets in your vehicle. Always consult your owners manual to ensure you are selecting the correct fit of filter and the right grade of oil for your ‎vehicle.
