They're more convenient to use than concrete slabs but the lids don't seal properly. So, even though the instructions say to use with sand OR water, all of the water leaks out of them.

A: This stand is intended for use with a cantilever offset umbrella base. This is a cross bar base not a pole type support used on a classic type of umbrella.

A: The umbrella base can be filled either with water or sand. Each section weighs about 35 pounds when filled with water and about 55 pounds when filled with sand.

A: You can melt plastic to seal it, use a plastic epoxy or JB weld for plastic. JB Weld is at Canadian Tire or auto parts store.

Q: We purchased this umbrella from you, and love it but, have misplaced one of the caps that screws on to keep the water inside the base. Are there replacement caps for purchase?

A: I suggest to take one of your existing caps to a plumbing supply or hardware store and match it to the correct size of pipe cap. I am guessing that a 1” pipe cap would fit.

A: This item is the weights for an offset umbrella base that are to be filled with water and/or sand. If your umbrella just has a straight pole, you may want to consider purchasing a standard weighted base for a market umbrella, such as # 088-0082.
