Not great

The issue with this saw is that it isn’t rigid enough, likely because it’s foldable. If I had known that feature in this one, I would have chosen a different model.

It sounds like the folding feature didn’t meet your needs for rigidity. This model is designed for portability and compact storage, which can affect stiffness compared to a fixed saw. Fiskars

Super efficient and handy, flexible blade

This is super convenaient, take no room, scratch no bags while folded but just note that the blade is super flexible because it's thin. For me it was the reason I bought it but it might be a problem for some as you could bend it.

Glad the compact design works for you! Yes, the thin blade is flexible—great for portability, but it can bend if not handled carefully. Fiskars

Questions

1 - 3 of 3 Questions

Q: Do the saw's teeth have no offset so it make smooth flush cuts, for example, cutting off a dowel plug flush to a finished surface?

3 Answers
  • A: @ Mitch66: Umm, you're entitled to your opinion for sure, but maybe just maybe look at the first answer prior to yours. Many days prior. FiskarsProductExpert provided the requisite answer details, and some more. Although my grammar was a bit off and the correction to the question I submitted was not allowed to be posted, this Japanese-esque pull saw bladed pull saw has a flexible enough blade along with the no set to the teeth that it in fact can and does function similar to a Japanese fixed handle flush cut pull saw, at least in the short run. When a saw has no set to its teeth on at least one side it is by design intended to first and foremost do flush cuts. Don't know though how much flexing the Fiskars saw's blade can take. It too might very well eventually break off similar to how a flexible, flush cut capable, Dew@lt six inch pull saw or a flexible, flush cut capable, St@nley F@t M@x six inch pull saw rapidly fails at its blade tang at the handle. Besides, the Fiskars folding pull saw is the closest thing to a Japanese flexible blade flush cut pull saw that Canadian Tire offers for sale to us unwashed plebs. L€€ VALL€Y has for five bucks less a four inch Japanese flexible blade flush cut pull saw with a handle with a full tang to the blade. That ought withstand copious amounts of flexing in performing flush cuts. It's just that I can't really get to their closest store before it closes at 6PM and I haven't the time to wait for such saw shipped in from being bought online. Plus it irritates me to have to also then pay them for shipping because they won't ordinarily ever even keep evening business hours at their stores that are even remotely similar to those of some of their competitors. I just need to make but fourteen functional, but not necessarily pretty, flush cuts of softwood dowel plugs in the doing of a small repair project. Hopefully the Fiskars folding pull saw's blade can take the flexing of doing but only fourteen flush cut dowel trimmings. I know a Dew@lt pull saw or a St@nley F@t M@x pull saw won't, as outside of the name on the handles those two saws are one and the same saw—quick to break the blade during rather relatively gentle use; in consideration of being purpose designed to be used as a flush cut saw. Your mileage may vary. — Analog In A Digital World

Q: * Spelling correction: Do the saw's teeth have no offset so it makes smooth flush cuts, for example, cutting off a dowel plug flush to a finished surface?

  • A: Yes — the 6" Folding Pull Saw’s thin, flexible blade and fine-tooth design make it ideal for smooth, flush cuts, such as trimming a dowel plug. The blade has minimal offset, allowing it to cut close to a finished surface without marring it. For the best results, use light pull strokes and finish with a quick sanding if needed.
