Product Details

The Fiskars Chain Drive Extendable Pole Saw and Pruner, extending from 7' to 16', offers a chain-drive gearing mechanism for maximized power and ease of use. Its oval-shaped pole reduces flex, allowing for controlled cuts and fitting comfortably in your hand. Equipped with a hardened, precision-ground steel blade, it resists rust and cuts smoothly and the double-lock systems ensure the extended pole remains secure. • Fully hardened, precision-ground steel pruning blade stays sharp, resists rust and cuts smoothly

  • Telescopes to extend your reach farther than other tree pruners

  • Extends up to 16' (4.8 m)

  • Secure double-lock systems ensure extended pole stays put

Great tool needing maintenance tips

I have used this pole for about two years. It helped me with all the high branches in the yards. But the spring and the chain are visibly rusted that the blade no longer return to the original position. How do I clean them? Or should I replace the chain and spring?

Yes, I recommend this product.

Thanks for reaching out—and we’re glad the pole saw has served you well for those high branches! For the rusted spring and chain, here’s how you can clean and maintain them:\n\nRemove loose rust: Use a wire brush or fine steel wool to gently scrub away surface rust from the spring and chain.\n\nApply rust remover: A rust-dissolving product (like WD-40 Specialist Rust Remover Soak or vinegar for a gentler option) can help break down deeper corrosion. Let it sit per product instructions.\n\nWipe clean & dry: After treating, thoroughly wipe down and dry all parts to prevent further rust.\n\nLubricate: Use a light machine oil or silicone lubricant on the chain and spring to keep them moving freely and protected from moisture.\n\nGoing forward, store the tool in a dry area and apply oil periodically to prevent new rust.

A generally poor product

Not a very good product for several reasons. First, because the handle is oval in cross section rather than round, it can flex easily from side to side; this absorbs much of the energy you put into it, as well as a lot of the back and forth motion - the result is if you move the handle 12 inches the blade moves 6. Second, the blade is poortly designed, it's far too short to cut anything other than branches 1.5-2 inches thick. Third, the blade is not of particularly strong metal; I used it only a few times and I could already see that the blade was losing it's cutting edge. The only good points are that a) it is long, and b) the trimmer (as opposed to the saw) is handy for small branches. In conclusion, I'd expect a far better designed and manufactured product for this price.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback. We hear you — the oval handle is meant to improve grip and control, but it sounds like it didn’t provide the stability you expected. The Chain Drive pole saw is designed for lighter pruning, which is why thicker branches can be challenging and the blade requires more frequent sharpening. We appreciate the points you highlighted and will keep them in mind as we continue refining our tools. Fiskars

Amazing Pole Saw

Used it for the first time today and it's AMAZING. I have tons of trees on my property that needed some good trimming and took down some pretty good size limbs using the attached saw. Would recommend this unit highly.

Q: Does it cut branches that are 3 inch and 4 inch in diameter?

  • A: Ala, the pruner has a cut capacity of 1 1/4". The hooked Woodzig saw is used for larger branches. It definitely should be able to cut 3-4" branches.

Q: the chain jammed up, I took th chain case apart,it will run free but no way can I tie the rope back in place.

1 Answer
  • A: Here’s a simple way to get it back together: Thread the rope through the top pulley inside the chain-drive housing, making sure it seats cleanly in the groove. Run it down through the channel toward the handle end. Tie a secure knot at the end of the rope where it attaches inside the handle (a simple overhand knot works well). Check the tension by pulling on the rope—your chain-drive should move smoothly without slack. If the rope has frayed or lost length, it may be much easier to install a replacement rope kit, since the pre-sized length ensures the right fit and function.
