Solid unit .. needed a little grinding.

Bought this a week ago .it was on sale 100 off so paid 240 roughly. I bought this when I was out of town for a canoe I was given … when I went to assemble 4 bolt holes where the gussets are were welded improperly and could not get the bolt in properly. Luckily I was able to fix with a grinder my father had . Flat brackets where top tube attaches was not welded at proper angle in my opinion. It went together and bent where it needed to go from bolting it . Once together it was a solid unit. nice adjustable tie downs . I think it’s a good product for the price .. different types where 2-3-4 times expensive .i am satisfied even know I had to do some grinding to get the bolts to fit . Small easy task if you have the tools ..

Works well, and sturdy once assembled. The manufacturing however was terrible. It’s obvious that these are not built in a proper jig. Each “leg” sat on a different angle, making it extremely difficult and tedious to mount the top rail evenly. Further more the foot pads don’t sit in line with box because of the misaligned legs. The mounting hardware is pretty straight forward and that was nice. None of the welds seemed suspicious. It’s very sturdy when everything is tightened up.

Nice Rack. Easy install on 2024 Ford Maverick XLT. Plan on putting my fishing kayak on it. Maybe some plywood and 2x4’s for a trailer project. Great buy on sale.
