118 degrees not 135 degree split point...

a month ago

This will do a pretty good job on 118 degree drill bits. but most kits sold are 135 degree split point which this sharpener won't do. 135 degree bits have a thicker web (centre point) and if sharpened to 118 deg without the split point the drill may walk more. I haven't manually tried adding the split point but word is it's not an easy thing to do. I hoped getting the Drill Doctor would simplify things, but alas. After a bit of research it seems it's back to the grinding wheel .

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bought it a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale, been able to sharpen multiple drill bits and knives with this combo machine without issues and comes out very SHARP Did research before purchasing and was glad to see the technology is powered by Work Sharp which provided confidence I was purchasing a reliable and durable product which would lasting many years of use. That said would have liked to have seen CT carry the X2 kit which includes replacement abrasive discs and drill bit sharpener.
