Sold me broken chains

I purchased tire chains for my vehicle and was sold a set that was clearly used and already broken. Not slightly worn — obviously damaged. When I returned to the store, they told me they don’t sell used chains and that chains are final sale, so according to them the damage must have been my fault. That makes no sense. If they don’t sell used items and I received broken ones, then there was obviously a mistake on their end. Instead of taking responsibility, they accused me of breaking them and completely refused a return or exchange. Terrible service, zero accountability, and incredibly frustrating to deal with. I’m beyond disappointed and will never trust this store again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good Chains - Fit not always as in picture

I already have a pair for my truck and they are good. Super easy to put on. I just bought a second set of these for a car, and they fit a lot tighter (225/65/R17). The red chain does not double back like they show in the instructions; there is just enough chain to reach the other side. I called the distributor (qccanada) and they said that the fit was good.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very impressed by this product!

Really easy to put on and to remove! Did the job going up a steep hill to reach a cottage in the Laurentians. Has a carrying bag and a plastic matt to kneel on. The matt has pictures with instructions of how to put the chains. Highly recommend buying those!👍😄

Questions

Q: What snow chains can be used on a Subaru 2018 Outback given the tire clearance.

  • A: I haven't seen smaller clearance cross link chains than this. Our Suzuki sx4 has minimum clearance and it is a non issue on potholed forest service roads. I imagine an outback would have more clearance than our car, given it is designed to go off road.

Q: I need snow chains for 225/R17 tires. Which will fit please?

  • A: I have the same size tire and bought the Passenger Diamond Back Square Link Chain. They did great. I'd recommend putting them on before your 3ft in snow though. First time putting them on needed practice.

Q: I have a 2018 Subaru Outback with tires 225/60R18. What tire snow chains fit that car given the tire clearance limitations

  • A: Hello there! I did not have those tires, but a kind Canadian Tire representative was very knowledgeable and directed me to the right chains set when I called. I would recommend you call. If you don’t get an answer you are looking for right away, just call another store location. All the best

Q: It drives me CRAZY! you can find almost NO info on products. Why will you NOT post the sizing guide?

2 Answers
  • A: You can download the sizing guide by going to "Product Details" > "Resources" and then downloading the "User Manual". It's not actually a user manual, as much as it is a sizing guide based on tire sizes.

Q: What size fits 195/65R15 tires passenger car Maybe you should publish a chart somewhere

2 Answers
  • A: Go to https://www.qualitychaincorp.com. On the right side of the page, enter your tire size without punctuation (in your example "1956515"). Under Vehicle Type, pick "Passenger Car". Click the arrow button. In the resulting list, select the "Diamond Pattern" in the Subcategory list. The list of results will show the one that fits your tire. Note the SKU number - the first part of the product name in the form of "15XXX". Now the annoying part: actually go to your local Canadian Tire and ask if they have that model in stock as it is impossible to get that info on this site.

Q: My car's tire size is 255/45R19, I don't see the size on the list, which chains should I get? Do I need one for each tire, or 2 is enough? Thanks

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, thank you for your question. For your tire size, the one with SKU# 0301270 (3.7mm material) would work based off of the dimensions. Here is the link for the product: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/light-truck-lightweight-diamond-back-square-link-tire-chain-0301270p.0301270.html#gs The product would be sold as a pair of two, which would do up one axle.
