Based on your description of the difficulty encountered while attempting to apply the product, it would appear that you may have purchased aged product (newly purchased may not necessarily be of recent manufacture). Likewise, attempting to apply thick paste-like fillers through too narrow of a tip opening can significantly increase the amount of force required to dispense the product. Regarding your commentary indicating " No date on tube to tell", the product that you reference does not have a printed "SELL BY date" or "expiration date". The product is printed with the Date of Manufacture code. The code date stamp on the package should indicate: "PYYDDD-S HH:MM". P = Plant of Manufacture, YY = Year, DDD = Julian Day (Day of Year), S = Shift, HH:MM = Time Stamp in UTC "Military Time". As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "•Do not apply when temperatures are below 40°F. •Allow product to fully cure before exposing to water, approximately 24 hours." Thick (deep) applications, applications subject to lower temperatures/higher humidity, damp/wet application surfaces and/or application areas with poor air circulation will dry at significantly slower rates. Until the product has properly dried, water resistance will not be fully developed.
