Best electric kettle

I love the different temperature options for heating water. Heats quickly and keeps water hot/warm for a long time. Cleaning is a little tricky with big hands, but a bottle brush works great to reach the bottom of the kettle. Another win for cuisinart in my mind.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Hot Water maker

I like the compact design and the fresh look. It heats the water nicely and pretty quickly. Would recommend this if you don’t have a built in hot water dispenser.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good product.

This is the second of this model we have purchased. The old one lasted about 8 years and was still working. All that was wrong was the lid stopped working. The kettle works very well and we appreciate the ability to select a beverage specific temperature.

Love it

We absolutely love the PerfecTemp and have for over 10 years. We ended up buying a new one because we put our old one to work so much.

Almost as good as what it replaced

I got this to replace a stove top teakettle that had developed pinhole leaks after five decades. The pour-over coffee setting is very useful--I used to guess when the water had cooled enough and wasn't very good at it. For what it's worth--not much--the time to a boil for my black tea is a little slower, though. What I find hardest to get used to is the handle. My old kettle lifted from directly above; this one lifts from the side, and the torque generated by raising three pounds or so (1.5 liters) of water that way is considerable. The fact that the control buttons are unexpectedly stiff acknowledges this: they allow you to hold the handle close to the top without disturbing the settings, and that helps some. But if you're used to lifting your kettle from above you should be prepared for the difference, and if you have arthritis you may want to consider something else.

Q: Do the sides stay cool when the kettle boils, or are they able to burn skin/ melt plastic ?

  • A: Mine does not get hot enough to melt anything. I don't think it would burn skin either although I would not hold my hand against it for too long.

Q: I have one those $30 kettles like the Salton or Master Chef. Is the Cuisinart S.S. quieter?

2 Answers
  • A: This Cuisinart is not quiet at all. It takes a lot of time and effort for it to boil so it rumbles like a plane trying to take off for ages. Our previous cheap Hamilton Beach was much faster and quieter. Also, if you keep it away from its base for like half an hour it forgets your preferred settings and just warms up instead of actual boiling. Its default settings are strange and can't be changed. And it doesn't have a battery to remember settings when it's away from its base.

Q: How does this kettle work at altitude where the boiling point of water is less than 212 degs I live at 4000 feet where water boils at 204.6 degs F, so if the kettle was set to 212 degrees, would it just never switch off?

1 Answer
  • A: The heater will not shut off until the water temperature reaches in between 208.4 oF and 212oF (98 oC and 100oC) when CPK-17C is set to “Boil”. The boiling point of water changes at various altitudes. Regarding your question about if the CPK-17C kettle where operates at 4000 feet above the sea level will never shut off when it is set to “Boil” (212oF), it is true that the boiling point of water is 204.3oF (95.7oC) at 4000 feet above the sea level and the heater will not shut off until the boiling water reaches the minimum water level that is detected by the equipped sensor, the heater will then shut off with the lights flash and the kettle will beep to alert the user as well. We suggest you set the kettle to 200oF as this temperature is hot enough for brewing coffee and tea (except black tea only) instead of “Boil” 212oF.
