    It stinks

I bought this rod as a starter for fly fishing and as soon as I got out to my local creek to try it out the top part of the rod snapped in half. I would not recomend this to anyone as it breaks very easily and the reel isn't very good.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Works good but breaks easily

I've gone through 2 of these sets over the last few years. It is a nice set for portability, the reel is smooth but the bail arm does not flip easily on its own, you have to flip it yourself. A common problem with lower priced reels. It has I believe one ball bearing. It's easy to assemble and 7' is a good in between length. Kind of a jack of all trades rod but master of none. Unfortunately, on both rods the tips broke off. One was caught by a shirt flying off a motor boat snagging the tip and another in a gently closed car door. Now this could break many rods, but I do find the tip on this rod is very small and not made from durable materials. So it's a great rod for portability, just treat it gently. If you don't need the portability, there are much better rods available for the same price.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Nice light rod for packing in a suitcase. Have taken it to Europe and used on small trout streams. Gets the job done.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: stability I am wondering how durable a 7 piece rod is? never used one before

    • A: Not as durable as a 2 piece. There are more chances for the intersections to split or break off. The biggest concern is bending the rod with a joining section not completely seated. The larger diameter section will split and break off, ruining the rod. The 7 piece rods are not made of as high quality materials as similarly priced 2 piece rods. You are paying for the portability, not the quality. However, a gently treated 7 piece rod can last several years.
