The item works great so far. Guaranteed for a year. The wires in the picture come with it. I have it hooked to 2 40watt panels and it’s doing fine.

not sure it will work with 100W pannel

Good product.. if you have 85W combine sorlar panel Max, i dont think it can handle 100W. Simple unit, you got the cable show and theyre screw holding the cable (ez swap) the only down on this unit is that it;s not made for 100w pannel.. for my part i am using olds panel .. would buy again if i need to build a other low evergy cost system (usb charging or led light or other) it's amust if you have old solar pannel and want tu use them..

Q: Hi... Can I safely use the Charge Controller 011-2008 with the solar panel (150W) 011-2055? Thx..

  • A: Charge Controller 011-2008 does work with this panel and is far superior to the cheap charge controller that comes with it. I've been using them for a few years w/o any problems. Best to splice in the wires from the old one so it can use the same plug.

Q: This solar controller comes with stripped leads to the solar panel, but the solar panel itself comes with the quick-connect plug. Where can I get the quick-connect plug, and why don't you include it with the controller?

Q: I wired to a USB to plug into a 21v solar panel. The lights didn’t come on even with full sun. The 12vmarine batt didn’t charge at all. It seams like it should work...? Any advice

  • A: USB plug would have a diode in it, causing you the problems you're having. Wire straight to battery (the controller part), then solar panel to controller. That's it!

Q: Is this controller suitable for use with the Coleman 10W Crystalline Solar Panel?

  • A: Not sure why people are saying NO to this question, when I have both this 805 Coleman Solar Charger with 10W Coleman Crystalline Solar Panel and have no problems so far.

Q: Protect your 12 Volt batteries from overcharge,How about.. OVER DISCHARGE? Does this have a protect from over discharge feature as well?

3 Answers
  • A: Neither of these answers seems correct. As far as I can tell, you do not connect LOADs to this controller. If you can't connect a load to the controller, it can't control discharge. Therefore, your batteries will not have any discharge protection. CT's answer that it has a blocking diode only prevents the battery from discharging through the panel at night.

Q: Can 2 or more solar panels be connectted to this controller?

3 Answers
  • A: If your solar panel output don't exceed the maximum (8.5 amp.) rating of the controller, then you can put as many panels as you want. I have three 20W, 1.34 amp amorphous panels (11-2023) on this 8.5 amp controller and I am still below the 8.5A max input. (1.34 x 3 = 4.02). At this rate I could put another three panels and still be below the 8.5 max input rating. The output in amps of your solar panels must not exceed the maximum input of the controller.

Q: Will this controller be adequate for the Coleman 100W 12V Crystaline solar panel I am usig to charge my 12V deep cycle battery?

  • A: Yes it will. I have several solar panels controlled by the same 8.5 volts controller charging deep cycle batteries at camp as we do not have electricity and I have to say it works very well! Hope this helps!

Q: I would like to use this in my vehicle to continuously charge (stop over charge) for a dashcam system, and prevent battery drainage. Would this be the solution I am looking for? will work while the vehicle runs? srry, not much of an electrician lol thx

  • A: Yes, it will charge another battery in the car (trunk); buy a separate battery charger for the one in the trunk, separate battery cahrger runs off 110 VAC, get DC to AC converter to power a decent 1100 mA 12 volt SLA battery (MightyMax) , then connect both Solar Charger and 1100 MA to battery in trunk, both will charge battery in trunk. Create a separate battery system for your DashCams when car is parked (not running). Got this set up in my mustang.
