Bought it and got it home and there were peices missing . Should have known when i seen the package had been reclosed not to buy. This item should have not even been put out on the shelf again . Not inpressed

Fantastic product to increase your storage

The ceiling storage kit is a fantastic product if you want to increase your storage in your garage or basement, it has a lot of adjustability built into it and mount hardware is included. The only thing you need to supply is the material to span the two vertical pieces in the kit to create a shelf.

Q: Is there a maximum space you would recommended between the two brackets? I would have either plywood or 2x4s spanning the two.

A: Actually, for Product #046-8648 (Ceiling Storage Kit), there is no maximum space between the two brackets. Please choose the proper length plywood according to need. The height of the bracket is adjustable from 17" to 26" (43.2 to 66 cm) and the width is adjustable from 24 to 34" (61 to 86.4 cm). Please see below screenshot for reference. Maximum combined load is 200 lb (90.7 kg) per unit, evenly distributed.

Q: Does it come with a base to go between the brackets? Or Do you use plywood? What size of base is required?

A: No – it does not come with a base. It can be used with or without a platform. Items like long handled tools, lumber or kayaks can also be easily stored out of the way. The rack is adjustable in width from 22" to 33” .the platform can be bade to fit these dimensions.

Q: Please explain the weight rating. Is the weight rating for each bracket or for each pair of brackets? A series of 8 brackets, 12 inches off-center, would support a 200 lb deadload spread across the length of the series? Or is that a big underestimate?

A: The 200 lb weight load capacity is based on the total load spread across the two 'U' shaped ceiling brackets. Brackets must be mounted with lag screws into the ceiling joists.
