Q: Will this rope work to hold a 14' Aluminum boat in place on the lake? I bought the Fox 40 2.5KG Anchor kit & need to extend the line in order to meet the "3x the depth" rule of thumb. Will this rope be able to hold a 14' Aluminum boat with a 25HP Motor, 24L Fuel tank, Battery, fishing gear & 2 or 3 men?

A: Yes, the ¼” hollow braided polypropylene rope should carry the tensile strength as indicated by your boat size and load in normal weather conditions. If you are extending the length of the rope by splicing the existing Fox40 2.5Kg anchor line which should also be a ¼” braided rope, you must ensure that you use a very strong knot to tie the two rope ends together, such as a double fisherman knot. Periodically inspect anchor line before use to ensure the spliced knots are secure and not fraying.

A: The safe workload is 110Ib/50kg. This line is used for anchors only and should not be used for mooring or dock securing applications.
