The straps for bow and stern have been replaced by a piece of rope. The foam for the car roof have a poor quality cut in them so do not fit on the bars.

Low quality for price.

I bought this to carry a kayak on my car that doesn’t have a good roof rack system. I was very disappointed with the quality Of the product considering the high price. I feel that there should be a product that is about $20 However, it’s pretty much four times that before tax! I assumed that for the price there would be a good quality aspect to it but I was wrong.
It’s nylon rope, a set of ratchet straps and two pieces of foam!
I used it twice traveling 2 x 2 hour joint trips with my MEC kayak and the foam squished down To a level where the kayak was pretty much sitting on my moon roof. If I were to use it again, I would need to buy another set of blocks. The ratchet straps are the only thing of any value in it- The nylon rope is slippery and cheap- I could do better at the dollar store.
I’m disappointed at Canadian Tire selling some That is Such poor quality and not having any other solution in stock. Certainly, it suits people who are stuck I need a quick fix But I dislike throw throwaway products and so I was very disappointed.

Q: Can I use this for a SUP?

A: Hello - The kayak roof carrier (079-8219-8) carrier can be used for a SUP (stand-up paddle board) on a flat roof car top without crossbars. The foam blocks should be placed about 4” from the front and rear edge of the roof before the glass. The paddle board should be placed on the foam blocks with the bottom of the board facing upwards and the fins towards the front of the vehicle and the leash plug facing the direction of the hood. The two quick release cam buckle straps should go over the SUP from side to side passing through the inside of the passenger compartment and secured. For added safety the included yellow rope should be attached to the leash plug and secured to the front end of the vehicle using Hood/Trunk Tie-Down Loops (079-2477).

Q: how would this work with a coupe? i have a 2005 honda civic coupe. i bought a 12'4'' jackson kayak and was wondering how this would work until i get the money for a true roof rack

A: You have to tie this down tight on the sides & front and back. If you don't have front tie down anchors on your car you can anchor to the motor mounts under the hood. If you tie it down tight enough so that it doesn't shift or lift it will dent in the top of your roof a bit temporarily.

A: For two Kayaks you would need two of these kits I would assume but I have only used it on top of a stand up paddle board. Not sure if the curve of the kayak would work against you with two of them together. Would probably work if you tied it down tight enough.
