When I read about this product I was happy that it would recharge itself even if it was cloudy. It doesn’t recharge itself if the sun is not shining directly on it. When fully charged it only lasts about 4 hours, then I have to pull it out of the ground and take it inside to recharge it. Afterwards I have to try to find the same hole when it snows and covers it or try to push the spike into frozen ground only to do the same thing again the next day, etc. I am very disappointed in the product. An electric one would have been much easier.

Not for a Canadian winter in Atlantic Canda

These were not designed to work in a Canadian winter in The Maritimes. There isn't enough sunlight to charge them to work for more than about 30 minutes. When they are charged enough to work the pattern is lovely but if you're looking for a consistent light display you'll either have to connect them to a power source or bring them in every day to charge.
