Pretty Decent, but low battery warning...

I have this lock working on my front door, and it's been pretty solid for a number of years. Works fine through the August app, whether using bluetooth, cell, or wi-fi connection. Apple Home is usually unable to see it. Home Assistant works pretty good - about a 1-second delay in responses to commands. Unfortunately, this model predates Apple's Home Key. Installation was easy - if you can work a screwdriver and read, it's straightforward. Only real issue is the low battery notices. We don't really use our front door often, but we start getting daily low-battery emails over a month befre I would consider it "low." For example, I've been getting alerts every day for 21-days, and the Home Assistant integration says the battery level (an estimate, I know) is at 46%! Settings are already pretty sparse. Nothing about when to start sending alerts.

Great Smart Lock

I’ve had this lock for a few years now, and really enjoy overall. Overtime, I’ve changed how I use it though. The “Auto Unlock” feature when you get home seems nifty, but you need to give unlimited access to your location which I don’t love and stopped using. Also, Wifi function is cool, but cuts the battery life down to 3 months. I only use the Bluetooth feature now, and battery can last 9-12 months. I’ve paired it with the Number Pad, which I use most days and easier to give to friends/family. I find most people not interested in downloading an app to open my door, so a code is nice. Now don’t have to hand out as many keys. I ended up buying a few for family members so now I can unlock their doors with the app. It would be better with a rechargeable battery or more standard size. That’s the only issue

A: Although I have not yet installed it, my understanding from reading online manual, you grab the lock canister and rotate the whole canister. There is also some excellent videos on this.
