Q: Can I use this product as the initial shock for a freshly filled pool from the hose (city water)?

  • A: I am not a pool expert but from everything I have read and watched on Youtube, for an opening shock go with chlorine. Then you can alternate between the Oxysparkle and chlorine shocks after that.

Q: Can I use oxy sparkle instead of Chlorine? I have a 19'x36' inground pool and I use a half cup of oxysparkle in the pool every night. The pool is perfect everyday. I am worried it might not be killing everything it is supposed to and maybe its not good for the pool heater?

  • A: "I use a half cup of oxysparkle in the pool every night. The pool is perfect everyday." Your using the product wrong. It's a non chlorine shock, don't put it in the pool every day. Use it once a week, give it a big shot of Oxy sparkle. And you should have chlorine pucks in the feeder for the day to day. Shock, both chlorine, and non chlorine, are supposed to shock the bacteria and Algae. Bacteria and Algae slowly adjust to the amount of chlorine in the water. Shock changes the water chemistry faster than it can adjust and kills it all. "I am worried it might not be killing everything it is supposed to" it will if used weekly rather than daily and maybe its not good for the pool heater?" It has a neutral PH. As long as you are adjusting your pool water PH, there should be no problems with your pool heater.

Q: we added to much oxy-sparkle and it turned the sides and bottom of the pool green with this go away with time or do we need to change the water if u look at the water in a glass it is clear not green

  • A: Adding too much Oxy Sparkle didn't turn the pool green. Poor water chemistry and algae turned the pool green. -Stabilized Chlorine pucks in the feeder, -get test strips or a test kit and balance the PH, make sure the chlorine is at the right level (pucks are feeding fast enough). -shock once a week -Use Algaecide when needed if you get green in the pool again.

Q: Is there any difference from Aquarius Oxy-Sparkle for Pools versus the Oxy-Sparkle for Hot Tubs? Also, if I have a 1400 litre hot tub how much of the Oxy-Sparkle should I use if I bought the product for Pools?

  • A: I read the MSDS from my question on the subject, and no there is no difference between Oxy Sparkle for the pool, and Spa Shock Non chlorine shock for the spa. Same product, but this is a better deal. The answer to how much to use. I'm a self educated spa guy, working to learn more all the time, but from what I've read it would be about 3 3/4 tablespoons per week. your spa is about 370 gallons, and it's 1 tablespoon per gallon. I don't think there is much danger in going even to 4 tablespoons, but you would add to you TDS (Total dissolved solids) on your water test by adding a little too much and therefore you might end up having to change your water more frequently than you would have if you just did 3 3/4 tablespoons. Once TDS reaches 1500 the water just needs to be changed.

Q: I am using the aquarius app to help with the upkeep of a 600L kiddie pool. The app told me to add 9g of shock. Does this apply to the oxy shock?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, if you are using any type of sanitizer on a weekly basis to maintain the chlorine level, you can use the Aquarius Oxy Sparkle Non Chlorine Shock. The way it works it reuses the actual available chlorine and puts it back to work. The pool can be used 15 minutes after adding the Oxy Sparkle. The quantity would also be 9 g. If you are not using any type of sanitizer on a weekly basis we recommend using the Aquarius Shock, 0813701. You will need to put it at night time and wait until the next day to use it. Thank you

  • A: Hi Nancy, yes there is no problem to use with any type of sanitizers including a salt pool. Make sure there is some total chlorine left in the water. It works quickly and efficiently. Thank you
