Wine rack assembly.

Time consuming to assemble but worth it! We purchased two and consider they are a good buy.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Would be worth it if it came assembled

I just bought this because I already had one like this and it was quite handy. However, the one I previously bought came pre-assembled whereas now, some assembly required is an understatement. As one reviewer already mentioned, the grooves in the wood don't fit exactly so you attempt to push a little on the wood to get the metal in. But because the metal is so malleable, you warp it immediately. If you've already bought this but haven't assembled it, here are some tips: 1) Do it on a level surface but don't do it on soft wood floors or tiles - the metal bits will mark up the surface; 2) Throw away the nails and get yourself some screws. Nailing into a single post you are likely to bend the nail or have it go crooked. Try a #6 by 1" screw for best results, although you can probably manage with 1/2" screws; 3) When you screw the back bits in, do them up only part way until you get them all in, then screw them down tightly; 3) Keep a set of pliers handy. You are guaranteed to warp one of the metal pieces, especially when you try to wedge the wood down on the junctions where the metal pieces meet. ...or save yourself the trouble and get something pre-made.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great wine rack

Quite challenging to put together but the video really helped. The finished product is very functional and doesn't take up a lot of room.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Because there is no zero star option

I bought this today and attempted to assemble it. Since it was designed by the Marquis de Sade to torture anyone who purchases it... Let me start by stating that I can assemble pretty much anything from Legos to Ikea and furniture whose instructions have been translated three times with or without art. This wine rack was a nightmare. The wood is not cut exactly, so things don't fit in perfectly and then the metal pieces warp because you are trying to force them in. I cannot express my level of disappointment enough. This product will either be returned tomorrow or go into the garbage (depending on my mood).

No, I do not recommend this product.

Absolutely terrible

I have put together many items that need assembly but this wine rack was something else. All four points of the posts have to be lined exactly otherwise you will damage the post or damage the frame. If you bend the metal strips it is impossible to bend them back so that they line up properly. Once you start on the inside the metal strips do not stay put. They bounce arround as you hammer so that they lean over instead of staying straight. I wound up with so many bent and twisted medal strips that I had to give up and throw the whole thing out. The instructions in the box were useless, the video on the site would not play and the YouTube video made it look easy. This was a waste of money and a waste of two half days.

Q: will this rack hold 1.5 l bottles?

  • A: No way. Even some large-bottomed 750 ml bottles (e.g. Chianti) are a tight fit.

Q: Can this wine rack be mounted/ hung on the wall?

2 Answers
  • A: The rack system needs to be supported from below so you can't really hang it from the wall unless you put a strong shelf underneath it. It is best to set it on the floor up against a wall and then use a couple of screws to hold it in place to prevent it from tipping forward. (more of an issue if you use the 72 bottle rack or stack some together)

Q: Is it configurable? I would like to setup this wine rack 3 bottles across, and 12 high, instead of the 6 x 6 configuration in the picture. Is this possible?

2 Answers
  • A: You can configure these in many ways - you might have to trim some straps to make it work. If you have a special configuration, its best to use groups of smaller racks with the connector kits.

Q: What stops the bottles from pushing through the back of the rack.

1 Answer
  • A: The back of the rack is supported with galvanised steel strips, that form the core structure and make it impossible for the bottles push through.
