How to install weatherstripping

You can keep out uncomfortable cold drafts and lower your utility bills by installing weatherstripping on your door. Weatherstripping can also help reduce outside noise and provide interior comfort. You will be able to breeze through this task by following these simple steps.

STEP 1

Start by measuring the width of your door.

STEP 2

Transfer this measurement to the new sweep and mark it.

STEP 3

Use the scissors or utility knife to cut the rubber seal.

STEP 4

Use the hack saw to cut it to length.

Hold the sweep against the door and mark where the screws will go.

Select a bit slightly smaller than the screws supplied.

STEP 7

Drill pilot holes on the door.

STEP 8

Hold the door sweep in place and begin driving the screws.

Don't tighten them down just yet.

STEP 9

This particular sweep has slots for the screws rather than holes.

It allows you to adjust the height of the sweep to best cover the door opening.

STEP 10

Tighten all screws once the best seal has been achieved.

Operate the door a few times to check the seal, and you're done!
