Good for beginners

I got this as a gift and it is my first baitcaster. I recommend this to anyone who is considering getting a baitcaster. BUY IT, it is fairly easy to learn and within a few days it became easy to make accurate casts.
Rod: This rod is really good, so good its comparable to the abu garcia veritas, which is a great rod. This rod is sensitive and comfortable, a little tip heavy, but for the price, awesome.
Reel: Pretty good real,its a little noisy but not terrible. Not silky smooth but if your someone why likes to "feel the reel" then its great. Tension knob and breaking system work great, but once get good you can throw lures with none of that on. The drag is pretty good but not my favourite. It does not click which kinda sucks, but its reliable (drag hasn't slipped on me) My only complaint is that it doesn't come in more gear ratios. Its a 6:2.1 which is good, but more variety would be nice.
Tips: Always have your thumb near the spool when you cast, when the lures about to hit the water lightly press the line with your thumb. Practice makes perfect, so if your not casting it smoothly right off the bat don't be discouraged . I fish this with 40 lbs power pro braid for sensitivity and 14 lbs 100% fluorocarbon for a invisible leader.

Great setup

great for the price. real accurate casting. this is my first baitcaster and i was in three days having no trouble putting the bait anywhere i want. no line screw ups. great for rookie baitcaster users. this is not pro gear but it landed a 19 inch bass for me no problem.

Terrible. Would not buy again

I absolutely hated this reel. The rod is nice and stiff (maybe even too stiff for most application). The reel itself constantly gets jammed even if I used 12lbs which is the minimum recommended in the reel. The brake doesn't seem to work at all and the clutch is so sensisitive that you are constently in need of reajustment. It is practically impossible to cast with this setup.
If I could, I would keep the rod and return the reel.
No, I do not recommend this product.
