Hi Mandy, MASTER Chef Double Burner Hotplate performs best when used with flat-bottom cookware, as this ensures optimal heat transfer from the coil element to cookware. For best efficiency, the cookware diameter should closely match the diameter of the coil element and should not be oversized. Using a lid will also help retain heat and improve overall performance.

A: I just plugged it into a 110V wall socket and it worked. Note that this hot plate heats food very slowly, frustratingly so when attempting to boil water.

A: YES, in a way! There is one light that will stay on as long as it is plugged in letting you know that power is available. There is also, another light for each burner to let you know that the power is still on for which ever one is not turned off all the way. So, in other words, if you turn the switch all the way off to the click, the power and the light will "automatically" turn off. But, it won't turn off automatically at a certain temp...

A: The CanadianTireTeam is the most right here. The burners "DO NOT" go off and on intermittently, there are no thermostatic sensors on this unit! You rarely even see them on expensive home elec. stoves. The so called, temperature knob is actually a "Rheostat" it's a variable resistor which is used to control current. In other words, where you set it causes a current in the coil producing heat at what ever setting you place it.

A: Yes they do but it is still very hard to clean. It has a screw in the bottom of the pan so presumably you could remove it but the screw is in so tight you can't help but strip it.

A: It works just fine for everyday cooking.we use it when camping. As for time cooking beans I have no experience using a pressure cooker for beans.

A: There are five heat settings on each side. When you turn on the heat dial, the green light comes on to indicate which plate is on. I love mine. I plug it in and use it in the RV when we have electric at a campsite rather than using my gas stove! Five is high heat, three is medium and one is warm.

Q: What can the Salton 2 burner stove do? Can the stove boil a big pot of water or the equivalent in an aluminum 20 cup coffee pot, the same day !? Will it light cigars off the small burner?

A: It may take 30 to 45 minutes to boil that much water. You could probly light a smoke off of it, but why would you want to? Get a Bic.
