Doesn't split well

I found the log splitter was under powered. I could split more with an axe. When I went to return it I was told that I couldn't return it because I had used it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can I store this unit in outdoor in winter in Ottawa Canada?

  • A: According to the fellow I spoke with from the help number listed in the operating manual, he suggested keeping it under cover in the winter elements. He also mentioned that if the temperature does dip past about -10 it might need to be brought in doors, as the hydraulic oil will thicken and can prevent it from starting. I can attest to this happening, as last year I went to split some wood, and it wouldn't start, so I just brought indoors to warm up... and had no problems after that. (I split right on my covered porch) Hope this info is helpful for some one... Have a wonderful winter y'all & stay warm...

Q: Is 4 tons enough? I am finding most recommendations for 20+ ton splitters to really get the job done. I have a truckload of 6" to 12" Popular togs from newly fallen trees so very wet. Will this handle these logs? If this is too small, will the 6 ton unit be enough?

  • A: My question too when I bought one a couple of months ago. Found that it split the largest birch and poplar that I had with no problem whatsoever. Also discovered it cut 12" pine no problem, although it couldn't split a few that were extremely twisted and knotty. My wife wasn't pleased with my purchase but before too long she was running the splitter while I loaded and stacked. Overall, extremely happy with this "on sale" purchase, especially the next day when I wasn't suffering the effects of swinging an axe and sledgehammer. Be sure to invest in the stand to make the job ergonomically easier.

Q: l have a yardworks electric log splitter modle 60-3823-0 l would like to know what size of guage wire to use when l buy a extension cord

  • A: 12 guage if over 25 feet, otherwise 14 guage will probably do. My 5 HP will trip the breaker with a 100 foot 12 guage extension.
