Box and ads appear to use false images

It's a pretty mickey mouse sort of gizmo that comes nowhere close to being realistic. The pictures on the box and in the ads may have been doctored as they are nothing like what the actual units looks like in operation.

Looks good and produces good heat

My original fireplace insert quit working and I didn't want to get a whole new fireplace cabinet with insert. The electric log set fit nicely in the opening and the flames and heater work fine. I turn it on to take the chill out of my bedroom before going to bed and I use the remote to turn it off from the bed. The thermostat is fussy to get setup. I haven't yet got it to where the heat will come on without making the room overly hot but with the remote, that hasn't been a big issue.

Q: I have just purchased the 23 inch log set. I would like to put it in a wooden faux fireplace. What is the minimal clearance on all sides. My instruction manual only states 3 feet. Does this mean my fireplace would have to be 8 feet wide Inside?

A: I purchased this faux fireplace to insert in an existing not used fireplace. The fireplace is approximately 36" wide and about 28" high. The faux fireplace works well in this area.

Q: Does the motor make a continuous, steady sound? Or does it sound like something going around and around?

A: If the fan isn't going then the heat wouldn't move forward. The fan is continuous for heating an area.

A: Neurofemme, Please use the Flame button - This button controls the brightness of the flame effect with settings at High, Medium and Low. When the log set is first turned on, the flame will come on at the highest setting. Each time the Flame button is pressed, the brightness decreases. The only way to turn off the flame effect completely is to turn off the Power switch.
