Disappointing product

I like this unit but find it disappointing. I have used the unit twice since purchasing it two weeks ago. I find that the shifter to change the direction of the auger shute is very stiff. Last night after a heavy snowfall I went to use the unit but the shifter wouldn't budge. I had to rely in my gas powered 2 stage snowblower to do the job.

Intermittent Electrical Issue

The overall quality seems good but it looks like there is an intermittent electrical issue. The first use it functioned fine. The second use, the light on the battery in the right compartment went off shortly after starting to use it. I popped out the battery, re-seated it and the light would continually go off a few seconds after starting to use the blower again. This happened at least multiple times. I switched the batteries to the opposite sides and the the light on the right would continue to go out a few seconds after starting to use the blower. I finished using it in this condition and could tell that it was low on power as it was only functioning with the battery in the left compartment......this was also confirmed by verifying the charge rate was dropping on the left battery but the right one stayed fully charged until I put it in the left side for added run time. The next day, after having re-charged both batteries, I put them both back in the blower and ran it under no load (just blowing air in the garage) and after several starts and stops, both battery lights were on. I'm assuming there is a bad electrical connection somewhere and if it gives me problems again on the next use, I'll be exercising the warranty.

Lots of power, handle bar warmers are nice to have

Lots of power, never really bogged down but snow where I am is usually quite dry. There's some improvements in minor things that could be made but all in all a good snowblower

PLEASE READ if not starting

*IF YOUR BLOWER IS NOT WORKING AFTER USING, PLEASE READ*
When working, this unit is great. Able to handle snow well and toss it a decent distance to get over piles with an easy to adjust chute. Handles heat up nicely and keep your hands warm throughout. Would recommend connecting with Bluetooth to the app to adjust handle warmth and LED brightness.
If your blower isn't working after using it once or twice and you're experiencing the flashing orange light, it's due to snow or ice build-up within the drive belt area. Bring your blower indoors and let it warm up for a couple of hours and you'll notice a fair bit of water when you tilt the unit forwards, then it should start up as normal again. If you store in a heated garage, this won't be an issue for you. But for those of us without heated garages, this is a design flaw that hopefully Ego addresses. I will be contacting them to discuss this matter further as it doesn't state units are to be stored in a warm area, only the batteries.

Q : Can I use my 7.5amp battery from my EGO mower together with one 6.0amp battery that comes with this unit ? I also have 2 - 5am batteries that came with my EGO blower. Can I mix and match batteries from different EGO produts in this unit ?

R : Yes. The unit comes with 2 batteries. Which it used simultaneously to power it. But you can use your other ego batteries to power this beast.

Q : I don’t own EGO lawn care products. I’m considering a purchase of an EGO snowblower. What do you do with the batteries off season? Do you allow them to run down or is it recommended they be charged off and on to keep them fresh?

R : WHEN TO CHARGE THE BATTERY PACK NOTICE: Lithium-ion battery packs are shipped partially charged. Before using it the first time, fully charge the battery pack. NOTICE: This battery pack is equipped with an advanced self-maintenance function to extend the battery life. Depending on the battery charge, it will automatically perform a self-discharge operation after one month of storage. After this self-maintenance, the battery pack will enter sleep mode and maintain 30% of its charge capacity. If stored for a month or longer, fully recharge the battery before the next use. (Not applicable to BA2240T/BA2240T-FC/BA4480T/BA4480T-FC which is equipped with other advanced technology to extend the battery life.) It is not necessary to run down the battery pack charge before recharging. The Lithiumion battery can be charged at any time and will not develop a “memory” when charged after only a partial discharge. Use the 5-LED indicator to determine when the battery pack needs to be recharged.
