Life-saver while oven is broken!

My oven has been broken for over a month and while I wait for it to be repaired I’m using this roster. I’ve used it for cabbage rolls, lasagna, angel food cake, muffins and granola. It’s been a life-saver!

I loved this roaster so much I bought a second one. Great for turkey, chili, soup, spaghetti sauce meatballs, I highly recommend it.

Although big to store it is a great addition. I have cooked a turkey and a prime rib roast in it and both turned out great. I was nervous about the prime rib but was surprised at the result.

It worked well to cook a 16 pound turkey when my oven wasn’t working. I also baked a pan of buns in it.

Q : Can you use this roaster as a slow cooker? For example is this roaster similar to a slow cooker where you could cook other meals such as a stew? Is this roaster safe to leave on while you are out of the house? Does the roaster come with other suggestions for use in instruction manual?

R : Hi Cbre! Thank you for contacting Rival®️. We understand that you want to know if this roaster oven can be used as a slow cooker. We are more than willing to clarify this for you. You may definitely use this for slow cooking, but only for a shorter period of time. Slow cooking is best for less tender cuts of meat. When using a standard roasting recipe, slow cook 1 1/2 hours at the 250 °F setting for every 30 minutes of roasting. This is also included in the user manual. However, we do not recommend leaving it on while you are not at home. Have a nice day!

R : The booklet that comes with the roaster tells you page E9. It says 10-26 lbs. however, I did about an 18 lb turkey and the lid didn’t properly close right away. I put a 10 lb metal weight on it for awhile. After it had cooked for about an hour I took it off and it stayed closed.

Beef, pork and lamb roasts are safe to cook from the frozen state. The only difference is that the cooking time for a frozen meat is approximately 50 percent longer. Enjoy cooking!

Using foil is safe for the oven, but if the foil rips, the food will fall into the oven. So please make sure that you add two layers of aluminum foil for this purpose. All in all, it is pretty convenient and doesn't demand an hour for cleanup. Have a wonderful day!
