Awful Product. Avoid!

Horrible product. When I opened the can the paint had separated into layers. Took immense amount of gentle stirring to mix. When I poured it in the tray, I noticed that within minutes the paint was starting to separate again. Awful coverage. On fourth coat, used primer too. No matter what I have tried in terms of application method, be it a brush, a foam roller, napped roller … none of them produce a good result. I did not work back into areas that had already been applied. The finish is bumpy, and the paint does not self level. I’ve sanded between coats and used a tack cloth to remove any sanding dust, and still the finish is horrible. This is not my first painting rodeo, and I will never ever use this paint again. Don’t waste your money.

Horrible. Does not dry without fish eyes. Melamine is not a good paint. 3 coats and touch upstairs.

Q : Does this have a strong odour? When I last did my cabinets over 20 years ago the odour was a strong chemical smell. Its cold outside and I’d rather not open a window, would I be able to handle the smell? Thanks:)

R : Unfortunately its in the premier "active" paint line not it was in a pure blue can. Not the same paint line but same brand "premier" we have a black can in premier paint that says "pure white" and it is definitely not the same color. We have an unfinished project ran abit shy on the paint and I dont think canadian tire sells the "premier active melamine paint" I was hoping this was a replacement but there is so many different shades of pure white. Thanks anyways

R : The people at Canadian Tire told me that it is water base and it is safe to use to paint the furniture in toddler room. So I bought it. This contradicts what Premier product expert replied. Let me know what I should do now and who is right.

R : Hi, this paint will have a +/- 30% glossiness. It's the same sheen as a pearl or satin finish. Once dried, the paint won't actually look "rough" like melamine products would normally. But it is considered a little shiny; more than an eggshell finish but less than a semi-gloss. Thank you

R : Yes. Just rough up the surface of the wood so that the new paint sticks. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to prime before painting as well.

R : If you want to make them extra durable and easy to clean you could put a clear coat of varnish, even floor varnish, on top. I wouldn't consider this necessary but its something I might do.

R : Yes but when I used it I wanted to make sure it would last being a countertop so I top coated it with clear nonyellowing urathane. I also cleaned it with tsp and lightly sanded it first.
