The worst charger and a waste of money

I bought one at Canadain Tire a few years ago. It is supposed to have engine start, well it doesn't work, it says the battery is full when the battery is weak. It won't rapid charge either, says the battery is full when the truck won't start. I worked right once when I first bought it, after that it fails every time. I had to borrow the neighbour's simple old 1960's charger which charged my battery up and got me going within an hour. How come this fancy new thing can't work? It's designed to fail so you have to buy another.

Complete waste of money-DO NOT BUY!!

Piece of junk lasted 2 charges before it started malfunctioning saying every dead battery you hooked it to was charged! Fancy brand name! Joke. Buy something simpler. Intelligent is garbage. Wasted a lot of money for my parents as a gift.

This charger didn't last more than 20 charges before it started to malfunction. Stay as far away as possible from this thing.
For a "smart" charger, it was pretty dumb. It would often read internal shorted cell, no battery connected, battery full, all on batteries that I knew were only about 50% depleted.
It was very satisfying to toss this charger into the garbage!
Save yourself the money and don't even consider this unit.

Piece of Junk

First time trying to use this and all I get is a blue screen. Finally figured out that it doesn't work in cold weather! So I bring it in the house and warm it up and take it outside and it works. Great if you need a summer battery charger or if you live in Bermuda! They should have tried it out on their ice truck!

Totally Useless Junk!
Will NOT charge batteries with low voltages, which is why your battery is dead in the first place. It starts off and pretends it's charging with it's fancy blue readout then defaults to "bad cell" and totally shuts off, no standby mode no alarms, it just shuts off, so you don't even know it's turned itself off, then you have to reset the charger by removing the power for a second attempt which is the same as the fist, NOTHING!
Even trying the 24hr battery rejuvenator setting does nothing... The way this is set up is that it impresses you by finding a bad cell and you go wow!.. Well I guess it's time for a new battery, eh?.. But you get curious and throw it on another battery, the same thing "bad cell" and won't charge, Ok, let's put it on my mobility scooter without any battery problems, same thing "bad cell" and then no charge, then after the 4th battery you figure out that, well it's a Canadian tire charger that sells new Canadian tire batteries indirectly for them as any battery you put this on has a "bad cell" default and wont charge!...
When I bought mine on Monday there were 4 on the self 3 were opened returns, and now there will be 4 when I bring this one back.
By using this charger you need 2 battery chargers, one to charge the battery and this one to hold the garage door open so that the cable of the first one doesn't get pinched under the door.

R : Put it on a manual battery charger for 10 minutes, swap to this one and put it on recondition. Leave it for 24 hours and the battery might work again. Depends on how long the battery was discharged for.

Q : Does this work on small ATV or Motorcycle batteries? I was told never to use more than 2 amps to charge a small 12 volt battery such as a motorcycle or ATV battery; is this charger safe to use on batteries that small?

R : If you can get this CAT junk to charge it will charge the battery automatically at up to the ratings on this charger and WON'T HURT your ATV battery or any battery as long as it has water in it and enough to cover the cells inside.. What kills the batteries is when you put it on a high charge and forget about it and boil out the water from within and on the other side freezing, a fully charged battery has a lower freeze point than a completely discharged battery and when it freezes the ice expands and rips the inerts apart and bows the case outward and that battery will never to work as a battery again... A 2 amp charge is a trickle charge to maintain the battery over time, your alternator puts out more than that so no worries on a higher amp charge. 10-15 amp is fine, anything over that you have to pay attention by removing all the cell caps and watching the bubbles come up, too much bubbling is no good as it vibrates the material off the cells inside then that stuff drops to the bottom of the battery cell where over time it collects then shorts out the cell.

R : This is strictly a toy... You're asking too much of this CAT junk, first it wont charge batteries for what it was made for and you want it to give you CCA readings?.. That type of load would melt it in 10 seconds!.

R : That is correct, it does not have a battery inside to start a car. Its a battery charger with jump start feature. So it needs to be plugged in to jump a car.
