This item was perfect...exact size I needed, colour I wanted and stored our shoes away so the dog couldn't eat them. Several months later we noticed that the door wasn't closing properly. After closer examination we realized that the one metal piece had bent and the screw had come right out of the wood. Now it is not able to store any shoes, it is simply a bench. Loved this shoe cabinet but the quality just isn't there. I'm very sad because now my hunt for a new cabinet begins.

Brilliant Idea - Poor execution re: materials

This is a brilliant idea, I wish it had a "real wood" option
We had read other reviews on shotty materials and though by adding glue to each side before fastening would help - which it did...
However, nothing could help (except replacing the board with better material) after 1 night of non-use post assembly and my spouse flipping it open to get a pair of shoes, and it broke at the makeshift hinge stopper on the door - particle board split
Canadian Tire took it back which was cool - other than the evening of my life it took to put together LOL all is ok... except still need a solution for our shoes!
Brilliant idea, just wished it had been better material, and a different colour :) like espresso to match our other furniture.

Does the Job

Purchased my first one in late fall of 2011 and noticed after a couple of months that the door didn't close cleanly. After close examination found that some of the hardware had bent, but didn't know why. With no questions asked and six months later, June of 2012, Canadian Tire let me exchange it for a new one and I've had no problems ever since. I think it is great, however while it works well for sandals and low rise shoes, doesn't work the best with regular running shoes.

Très mauvais achat !!!

Le tiroir est toujours brisé, donc aucun avantage d'avoir ce range chaussure. Le meuble est rendu tout grafigné à force de remettre les pentures à leur place pour que le tiroir puisse ouvrir. Ça fais seulement 6 mois que je l'ai et je songe seulement a le remplacer !!! Très mauvais achat pour ma part

Poor Design and Quality

This shoe cabinet is poorly designed. The screws used to secure the cabinet's door simply cannot bear the weight of the door. In my case, the screws simply slipped out. The storage space for shoes is also limited. You can only fit sneakers and dress shoes. I had this returned. Don't waste your money/time on this.

Q : I just bought this and I'm wondering what is supposed to stop the door from slamming right to the ground? The rails have catches on the back of them, but no pieces come with the cabinet for them to catch on?? Am I missing something?

R : On ours there was a little cylindrical metal stick about 1 1/2 inches long that inserts into a hole on the left hand interior wall close to the bottom of the unit. It serves as a "door stopper" so to speak. I think eventually it would need a piece of felt padding on the inside door where it makes contact - like used for the bottom of chairs - otherwise it would wear quite a bit and make a groove. Hope that helps
