5 DEFECTIVE!?!?!??!

I bought 5 for Christmas presents. I bought one for me, and one for my mother.
When I went to try mine, I quickly noticed that the "RED" LCD back-lit display was SILVER??!!??!
There was no red at all. It's advertised as being bright in the dark but it's PITCH BLACK in the dark because it's just a LCD screen.
I asked to try my moms and the same with hers.. So I proceeded to open all 3 gauges that I already wrapped up for presents and EVERY ONE was the same!!
I replaced the batteries in 2 of them and no difference.
CLEARLY THEY ARE EITHER DEFECTIVE, or the manufacture REMOVED THE RED color but still advertised it.
All are going back to Canadian Tire!

Two years and no good seal.

Even at 66% off it seems like it was a waste of money. Using a pencil style gauge I get consistent readings, with the Michelin I just loose air. I always get tempted to try this one because it appears so novel.
Looking at there area intended to pressed unto the valve and comparing to the pencil style it's obvious to see why it is so poor. The Michelin one is a FLAT, HARD rubber surface. Pencil styles are tapered to fit snugly on the valve. Adding a soft rubber washer or grommet might improve the seal.
For ten times more than a simple pencil style gauge, you would expect an improved seal.

Very Frustrating to Use

This is a really bad product because you have to put it on the valve perfectly, which is hard to do, to get a reading or you loose a lot of air. I've tried it on my truck and my car and it's the same thing. There are so many reviews like this on here it's surprising that they still sell it.

Bad Product

It's very hard to get it on the stem so that you can get a reading without losing a lot of air. It has to be centered perfectly. Very frustrating!

Q : How accurate is this gauge? The gauge at the tire shop showed the pressure of 35 psi, and the Michelin Digital Tire Gauge showed about 40 psi. It's a pretty big difference, and I was wondering which one of the gauges can be considered more accurate.

R : Disregard my previous answer. It turns out these gauges lose their calibration when the internal battery dies. When it displays "L", just chuck it out (wasteful!) and buy a new one. Save the batteries though, they're worth as much as the gauge itself.
