Great first bike

Our twin boys started on these bikes just before they turned 3. They started to glide short distances by the time they had used the bike 3 or 4 times. A year later they fly around on these and love hills. I am a true believer that this is the best way to learn - their balance is incredible and we are just about to purchase peddle bikes (they are turning 4) with no training wheels.

First bike

This is my son's first bike, he is almost 3 years old, and just a bit short for his age, so his feet are not completely flat on the floor, which is fine since he will grow into it, but he loves it, wants to take this bike everywhere. His older sister who is 4 has a bike with training wheels, and from this bike she is learning how to balance, and I think I can now take the training wheels off of her bike and give it a try.

R : Yes, but only from about 3-4yo size. It does not go low enough for younger toddlers.

Q : Are the tires plastic or rubber? I've heard that rubber tires provide a softer ride and don't tend to slip when stopping, as plastic wheels tend to do.

R : They are a rubber. My son got to the point where he was so comfortable on the bike, that he would nail on the hand brake and make"blackies". So I guess that would mean they dont slip.

Q : Where can the child rest their feet when gliding? In other balance bikes you have a spot for the child's feet to rest during glides instead of dragging on the floor.

R : My son had the WeeRide balance bike and he would go down the hills with his feet up no problem when he was 2yo. My daughter also had a balance bike with no foot rest and she would do the same thing. Their feet were always ready to get on the floor in case they needed them. They never complained and going down hills was their favorite thing to do!!

R : I dont think so. It is attached to the bike. It would be dangerous to not have the brake. They do get going pretty fast at times once they get comfortable on it, where the brake is then required because feet wouldn't stop fast enough.

R : I'm guessing approx 20lbs. I could easily carry it with one hand, and my little guy had no problems lifting it onto a step. He was able to maneuver it around easily.

R : My 5.5 year old is 50 lbs and he used it for one night....then he knew how to ride his regular bike. Not a true test of how long it would hold up to 50lbs but it did for that night.

Q : Where can I find the pink version of this bike? Since it has apparently has the same product #, I need to ask stores to do a physical check of the inventory before I go to buy it. I have called 10 stores in the Ottawa area and no store has even seen the pink version of this bike.
