Not Racoon FoolProof

Great idea, but the racoons are not fooled! I've had to use an additional bungee cord to keep the animals out.

The quality is bad

Easy to install, but my racoons are beating it

The racoons can't open the lid. But they can bend the lid enough to open a crack of about an inch or two along the sides. That seems to be enough for them to pull garbage out.
I'm going to need to augment this with a strap across the top.

Best product but not being accepted

My old green bin is no match for the skilled paws of the local raccoons. As such, I had to purchase an additional latch. Having gone through two different latch systems that were ineffective, I purchased this particular design. I found it easy to attach, simple to operate and, after one year of use, 100% effective.
That said, despite its small unobtrusive design, my local garbage collectors are now refusing to pick up the garbage unless I completely remove this latch.
They tell me it is not approved by the city of Toronto because, even when unlatched, "it may pose a danger to the collector". Of course, there is no possible way this could ever harm someone, but unfortunately there was no convincing them otherwise.
I now look forward to the day that my collection becomes privatized, but until then, I must go back to using bungee cords.

Easy to Install

I just got mine this morning- we were tired of heaving a patio brick on top of our green bin to keep the raccoons out. Note: we have one of the original City of Toronto green bins)
It was easy to install. You are given a drill bit and just need a drill, screwdriver, and some pliers to hold the nuts. There's a template on the back of the packaging which tells you were to drill the holes.
Very easy to secure and unsecure. When not engaged, it falls to a 90' angle so it is out of the way of the garbage man. I tried tipping my bin over but the latch did not come off.
Real test will come in the spring/summer when the raccoons are at their worst.
