Q : We have applied epoxy to our floor in our house and it scratches easily. We want to sand and apply a final coat, will this scratch from dog claws and moving furniture?

R : Hi Heatherc, While the coating is tough, it can be scratched from dog's nails if they are long and from moving furniture. When moving furniture, you should still avoid dragging it across the floor. If 7 days has surpassed from your last coat, we recommend cleaning the floor if it was used, scuff sand lightly with 60-80 grit sand paper, remove the sanding dust and reapply your final coat. Q : Can this product be put over Armour Coat enamel paint?

R : The Armor Coat enamel paint is not a floor coating, so we wouldn't recommend that Rock Solid be applied over it. Rock Solid can be applied over an existing floor paint, provided the surface is cleaned well, and scuffed with 60 grit sandpaper first. If the surface is a garage floor, the existing paint should also be a garage floor coating, capable of withstanding vehicle traffic. If it is not, we'd recommend the paint be removed before the floor is coated with Rock Solid.

Q : can this product be used to level a dip in the garage floor? My garage floor has a slight dip/depression that's roughly 1/2" deep over approximately 6 square feet of area. Can this product be used to fill in the depression while coating the entire surface?

R : The Rock Solid coating is designed to coat a surface, but will not fill major depressions, or gaps.

R : yes we have had good success bonding to an existing epoxy floor coatings by scuff sanding and solvent wiping, then applying our coating system. The potential customer should consider the following when recoating: 1) We will stick to the epoxy, but is the existing epoxy sticking to the concrete? If the existing epoxy is delaminating, then the entire coating system should be ground off. 2) Is the existing wearing off? The bare concrete area need to be prepped. In this instance, there might not be enough coating to bond to and the entire coating system should be ground off. 3) If the existing coating system is in good shape but just needs help on cosmetics, the potential customer could scuff sand with a 80 grit to get an anchor profile. They should then vacuum, leaf blow and solvent wipe with acetone to remove all of the contaminants before applying a new coating system. Make sure the customer is extra safe when using acetone – Respirator, Safety glasses, protective clothing and gloves. Also, this is a flammable solvent, no open flames during use.

R : The Rock Solid Garage Coat is designed as a one coat application. The clear coat is optional. About 20% of the vendor’s customer base purchase the optional clear coat to add extra durability. These customers are typically owner of high end garages or shops where they are constantly working on their cars.
