Good little broadcast spreader. My only criticism is the lack of a manual to explain flow rates for the different settings for various seed types. You basically just have to wing it.

Here's some helpful information to keep in mind.
The main culprit is usually the rotor plate under the opening. It's the part that's supposed to be spinning and flinging the product out onto your lawn. If it's not turning, you're not spreading.

Complete piece of junk

This was a web order, and I am pretty sure we were given a returned, or 'open box' item (there was no box), but it didn't work or was missing pieces.
The label on the side of the spreader said to 'see packaging instructions' to assemble it. There wasn't any packaging. There was one loose metal part that presumably was fitted to the tiller. However, if that is correct, the part that it was to attach to was missing as well.
There was no information such as a user manual available on the Scotts website and even ChatGPT could not figure out how to put 'the piece' together.
It is either a total piece of junk, or it was a second hand open box item that was missing pieces. Pretty poor of Canadian Tire either way.

Leave Striped, My Lawn Look Terrible

Leave stripes in the lawn, how candian tire continues to sell these and mess people's lawns up is crazy. Do not purchase this if you care about how your grass looks, if you want drak green striped in your lawn then this is for you.

Calibration seems incorrect

Calibration seems off. Have used my prior Scott's spread for years very successfully. It finally wore out and bought a new one this year. Using the same Scott's fertilizer, it runs out before I finish my yard when in the past, I would have some left over. Just finished the 3rd application this season and had exactly the same issue. I am applying the product the same way I have always done and using the # shown on the bag. Wondering if others have also noticed a calibration issue with this new model?

R : As the screws do not hold the handle in place (problem I had reported earlier) the vertical height of the handle from the ground up is 25 inches. If the screws held the handle secure then the vertical height would be 30 inches. The length of the handle from the bottom of the green fertilizer container is 27 inches.

We can not recommend spreading sand or soil of any type in this spreader as they are too heavy and would likely damage the spreader. And the only way to adjust the width for spreading is to use the edgeguard. Otherwise the spreader will dispense 2.5 feet on each side. You can contact us if you need further assistance. R : Unfortunately, there is no cross-reference or formula for spreader settings. Spreader settings, in general, are not related to pounds per thousand square feet of product applied. Spreader settings correspond to a specific opening size on the spreader. Settings are based on the size of the prill and the density of nutrients in the particles, as well as the desired amount of nutrients for the lawn. Because of these each product has to be tested in the spreader to determine a setting. We provide settings for our consumer spreaders on the bags of all of our consumer products. However, there is no way that we can test all of the spreaders with all of our products or all competitive products with our Scotts spreaders. We recommend that you apply a test area to determine the best setting for your spreader with this product. Empty the number of pounds the manufacturer recommends for a 1000 square feet into the spreader. Adjust the spreader to a very low setting (approximately 1/4 to 1/3 open) and spread the material over a 1000 square foot area (50 x 20, 33 x 30, etc.) If you run out of material before you cover the test area, adjust the setting a notch lower; if you still have material in your hopper when you reach the end of the test area, adjust the setting a notch higher. This will give you the best setting for that particular product. Remember: it is safer to under apply with the test and increase setting later as needed.
