Q : I don't remember when I bought my Sharpie Pens. It's been at least 5 years ago, I guess. I've never used them but I'd like to try to paint my Xmas card with them. They are completely dry. Is there a simple way I can bring them to life now?

Q : I enjoy writing with the permanent ultra fine sharpie markers. What paper thickness will they bleed through? I have the sharpie pens as well but I like the variety of colors from the permanent ultra fine.

When it comes to paper thickness and bleed-through, the Ultra Fine Permanent markers use a bold, fast-drying ink that is designed to write on many surfaces, including paper, plastic, metal, and more. Because the ink is permanent and quite saturated, bleed-through can happen on thinner or more porous papers. Generally, paper that’s 80 gsm (grams per square meter) or higher tends to handle these markers well with minimal bleed-through. For best results and to avoid bleed, thicker papers like those 100–120 gsm or higher are recommended, especially if you want to use both sides of the page. If you’re using thinner notebook paper or standard copy paper, you might notice some bleed-through, particularly with heavy or layered strokes. Your Sharpie Pens, with their water-based ink, are better suited for thinner paper as they minimize bleed, but we totally understand loving the color variety of the Ultra Fine Permanents!
